Destaca la variedad y espectacularidad de sus técnicas de patada, y actualmente es una de las artes marciales más conocidas. Es un arte marcial moderno, con poco más de 50 años de antigüedad. Además de ser un arte marcial, el Taekwondo también tiene un aspecto de competición deportiva.
