Bono explains why 2005 is such an important year to Make Poverty History www.makepovertyhistory.org/video

You cannot change the past but you can make the future, and anyone who tells you different is a Fucking lethargic devil. I don't look at a few token Latinos and black people in the public eye as some type of achievement for my people as a whole. Most of those successful individuals are sell-outs and house Negros.

Please read the sidebar for important information! VOTING IS STILL OPEN! You get to decide what I do with Save the Children. There are five options and there is enough money to do either one big thing or 2 or 3 of the smaller options. The money for this comes from the hundreds of people from around the world who have already donated to me via PayPal. "The Uncultured Project" is just a funny name for my work trying to help those less fortunate in developing countries. It's not a charity, NGO, or anything like that. It's about what we as individuals united together can do to make a difference in the world. Find out more at: http://uncultured.com and http://youtube.com/UnculturedProject DON'T feel obliged to donate to me - I'm not a charity! I'm just a guy. You'll find more information here: http://uncultured.com/donations HOW TO VOTE: You don't need to have made a donation in order to vote! Make a VIDEO RESPONSE and let me know which option you'd like me to do! You can also leave a text comment if you prefer, but I'd like to give more weight to video responses. THE OPTIONS: - Build a Deep Tube Well - Build a Pond Sand Filter (aka PSF or Biosand Filter) - Provide 80 Salter Scales to Fight Malnutrition - Build a School Latrine - Repair a School Damaged by Cyclone Sidr IMPORTANT NOTE: There is enough money to rebuild the school OR 2 or 3 of any of the other options. I'd like to thank Save the Children USA for their assistance and support in helping me to do this. I'd also like to give my heartfelt thanks to the Save the Children staff at the following offices: Westport (USA), Dhaka, Barisal, and Barguna. I'd also like to thank Jamison Young, Stefan D, and Josh Woodward for lending their music for this video. Jamison Young ("How Far" - intro music) http://jamyoung.net/ Stefan D ("Best Mind") http://www.furaxe.qc.ca/stefand/ Josh Woodward ("Shower Scene Instrumental") http://www.joshwoodward.com/ Last but not least, I'd like to thank the following YouTubers for collaborating with me on this video: http://www.youtube.com/user/AngelLife999 http://www.youtube.com/user/windago http://www.youtube.com/user/thechico1979 http://www.youtube.com/user/1Day2BeAwesome http://www.youtube.com/user/Aceswolf http://www.youtube.com/user/xokiikster http://www.youtube.com/user/Maddog53 http://www.youtube.com/user/vlogbrothers I apologize for not making a video earlier. It took a while to make this happen! It also didn't help that my 3-month old LaCie harddrive died with a lot of important footage on it. I was already making this video when it died and had to start from scratch. Don't. Buy. LaCie. Subtitle Typo: The subtitles for the lady speaking about the deep tube well was meant to read as "It feels good to have this because all of us can use this TO drink and wash our food & dishes". This was a bit difficult to translate and I had to actually consult two different people to help me translate this. In the process I seemed to have overlooked this grammatical typo. Sorry to any English teachers out there. This video is licensed under the Creative Commons (BY-NC-SA).

A documentary about poverty in Bahrain, produced by Bahrain Centre for Human Rights. September 2004.

Please keep all comments and debates civil, no vulgarities, ECT... This is one step closer to liberal's "big brother". The US is loosing is sovereignty. The US is one step closer to having to pay taxes to foreign (and even hostile) nations. The Liberals often try to smear their opponents by saying their opponents are promoting "Big Brother", however when you look at the facts the Liberals and unfortunately some Republicans are the ones that are promoting "Big Brother". Whether it be to taxes of some global welfare program, the Kyoto treaty or under the guise of some other form of environmentalism, ect... The liberal fascists are selling what is essentially a blend of fascism, socialism, and communism. Unfortunately the right is shifting more in the same direction to compromise with liberals.

http://www.ted.com In a follow-up to his now-legendary TED2006 presentation, Hans Rosling demonstrates how developing countries are pulling themselves out of poverty. He shows us the next generation of his Trendalyzer software -- which analyzes and displays data in amazingly accessible ways, allowing people to see patterns previously hidden behind mountains of stats. (Ten days later, he announced a deal with Google to acquire the software.) He also demos Dollar Street, a program that lets you peer in the windows of typical families worldwide living at different income levels. Be sure to watch straight through to the (literally) jaw-dropping finale.

Take Action at http://www.inmyname.com In 2000, 189 governments made the historic commitment to half extreme poverty by 2015. We are halfway to the deadline, but poverty still kills 50,000 people every day. We can be the generation that ends poverty. We must act now!

Google TechTalks June 7, 2006 B. Ramalinga Raju and Venkat Changavalli ABSTRACT India is booming with visionary initiatives to transform rural India and its poor. This tech talk tells the story of one corporation that is leveraging its core competency to address the issues. Satyam group of Industries took on new missions starting in 2001 - to serve and transform the "Bottom of the Pyramid" - a phrase coined by Prof. C.K. Prahalad. Driven by the vision of Mr. Ramalinga Raju and his family, Satyam is forging ahead on three different fronts: The Byrraju Foundation: has developed a model of transforming villages into self sufficient commercial societies. To date this initiative has transformed...

My name is Shawn and on September 14 2006, I found my answer on how to make the world a better place. It's because of that answer that I am now in Bangladesh. On September 14th, 2006, the University of Notre Dame (of which I was a student studying for my Masters in Sociology) canceled all of its classes so that students could learn about an important issue: the problem of global health and third world poverty. One of the people who came to speak to us was Dr. Jeffrey Sachs (author of the book "The End of Poverty"). Dr. Jeffrey Sachs believes that extreme poverty can be eliminated in our lifetime. The power of this message inspired me to put school on hold so that I could do my part and hopefully inspire others along the way. I have come to Bangladesh to try and help the poorest of the poor. I am sharing this experience with the world through the power of YouTube. I know that my little "uncultured" project is a drop in the bucket. But hopefully, the more people that be inspired to believe we can end poverty in our lifetime - the closer we can get to that goal. This is just a montage of what I did in my first five months. Please check the other videos for more of what I have been able to do. Aid That I Gave In This Video Include: - 1 Long-Lasting Insecticide Treated Mosquito Net Donated by Vestergaard-Frandsen - 2 Cases of Bottled Water to Residents of a Flood Affected Region - A nutritional meal (including beef as a source of protein) for a large group of poor school children - 1 windup flashlight given to a young student in the rural village who cannot afford electricity - 50 Locally Made and Locally Purchased Mosquito Nets I plan on making more videos explaining each aid operation in more detail in the future. Don't worry - I'm not here to ask for your money. Although, I am asking you to consider rating the video and subscribing :-) My Project's Blog: http://uncultured.com My Project's Photos: http://flickr.com/photos/uncultured/ More YouTube Videos: http://youtube.com/UnculturedProject The entire Notre Dame 2006 forum is available as a free download from: http://forum2006.nd.edu These short excerpts have been used with written permission from the University of Notre Dame's Office of Public Affairs and Communication. We're a team! Please fight with me!!!! Go to my myspace account: http://www.myspace.com/kicesies And check out the last three blogs I posted... and think hard... dig deep... and donate as much as you're able to!! Please! I REALLY want to reach this goal. And if we do reach $3000 total from my viewers, I might have a fantastic surprise in store for you guys! Music is royalty free and thanks to JimmyG.us. Great, soft music! Check him out. Please please please dig deep and make some contributions. When I was in Russia years back we found out that $5000 built a nice church.... when you realize how powerful your dollars are in impoverished countries, you have to give. I've committed $1000 (given you get to sending pillows)!!!! And that's a HUGE commitment. I'm not sure how I'm going to make it yet, but I will, and will be blessed for it... blessed by knowing I changed lives for the better. Leave me in awe again like you have so many times before! Let's raise this money! (LATEST UPDATE: Via yesterday - I am on message strike (except for the three who donated) until a huge shift occurs and people begin to donate. I love responding to messages, so it's like a hunger strike but it'll effect us both. I will not respond to comments on videos, messages on youtube, comments or messages on myspace. I am on strike. !!!!!!If my voice means nothing, it will not speak!!!!!!!

Almost 20% of European youngsters are at risk of poverty -- a higher rate than the adult population. The film shows areas in the EU where child poverty is a prevailing problem, but where some encouraging action is also taking place.
