Pandit Shivanth Mishra, Lecturer and Head of the Music Department at the Sanskrit University of Benares, is a master of the sitar. Deobrat Mishra, the son of Pandit Shivanth, was honoured as India's best sitar players award of the year 1995. In the year 2000 he received SurMani ( Jewels of sound) award in Mumbay -- India. Pandit Kumar Lal Mishra, the son of Pandit Samta Prasad Mishra, is a known tabla artist and he accompanied other famous sitar players like Pandit Ravi Shankar.
