It's very emotional and powerful playing - a pipa solo style par excellence, by the internationally acclaimed pipa virtuoso Liu Fang - http://www.liufangmusic.net The title of this classical master piece is "King Chu doffs his armour" (Ba Wang Xie Jia), from traditional repertoire for pipa solo. It describes a tragic event around 202 BC (see http://www.philmultic.com/liufang/video/ for more information and a video of higher resolution. Da "Superclassifica Show".

This is a famous ancient guqin tune 廣陵散 "Guangling San" transcribed by Wang Changyuan (王昌元) for guzheng 古筝 solo. Liu Fang performed this piece during the concert at City Theater of Paris on May 8, 2006. The original guqin solo was composed by the renowned scholar and guqin master, Ji Kang, one of the "seven gentlemen in the bamboo forest" in the Wei period (3rd century). http://www.liufangmusic.net/ about the music: The original guqin solo was composed by the renowned scholar and guqin master, Ji Kang, one of the "seven gentlemen in the bamboo forest" in the Wei period (3rd century). It is said to recount a story in the epoch of the Warring States (around 3rd century B.C.) about Nie Zheng assassinating the King of the Han Kingdom to avenge the murder of his father. The entire piece is filled with overpowering momentum; the style is unique, expressing deep feelings with intense fight scenes. According to history, the composer, Ji Kang, who refused to serve the tyrant emperor Sima, was persecuted and finally killed by the order of the Emperor. Ji Kang performed this tune for his friends and faithful students on the site just before he was executed.

Download High Quality MV of this song: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S6Q2I23V Sheet music: http://www.gangqinpu.com/html/5939.htm 2008 Beijing Olympics Official Theme Song: Sarah Brightman & Liu Huan - You and Me This official theme song was selected from thousands of candidate songs. It was sung in two languages by Sarah Brightman & Liu Huan. Why was this song finally chosen as the official theme song of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games? Zhang Yimou, the director of Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony, gave the following explanation. "The Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee spent several years to gather candidate songs. We collected thousands of songs. I felt that many songs seemed to used 'hand in hand', the theme song of Seoul Olympics, as a model. Many people including media thought that the theme song of Beijing Olympics should be similar to that kind of song ('hand in hand'). And many lyricists and composers followed that style. Finally the same was I." "One day I happened to hear 'You and I'. I felt that the song was beautiful at that time. The lyrics and music are simple. The major purpose of our creative work was to complete an artwork on site. We wanted to create a unique, original, unmatched and the greatest behavioral artwork in the world. And we wanted to express our best wishes. The lyrics of this song like 'you and me, from one world, we are one family' are touching and easy to learn. So other directors immediately loved this song. And we felt that it fit the theme of 2008 Beijing Olympics -- harmony. We recommended this song to musical professionals. They all liked it." Zhang Yiping, the director of this song's MV, gave the following explanation. "The message of this song is pure and simple. When I firstly heard this song, I could not believe that it was the theme song. Later I felt that its purity and simplicity was a good idea. It is different from the grand style that we might expect. But it was creative to choose this song. Especially when this song was performed on Olympics opening ceremony, the artistic conception developed from this song was very beautiful." Jiang Xiaoyu, the vice executive chairman of Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee, commented that "Former Olympics theme songs were full of joys and passion. This time we took a new way, which led to harmony and humanity" 2008 北京奥运会主题曲 刘欢&莎拉布莱曼 -- 我和你 2008 北京奧運會主題曲 劉歡&莎拉布萊曼 -- 我和你

Guzheng (where "Gu" and "Zheng" stand for "ancient" and "zither" or "harp") is one of the most popular traditional instruments from China. It's beautiful and mellow sounds are very attractive. Pipa soloist Liu Fang alsi has also an excellent command of guzheng playing, particularly for classical styles, as evidenced in this piece. Performer: Liu Fang (www.liufangmusic.net) Title: "Seagulls playing in water". This is a traditional piece from the Chinese classical repertoire, recorded live at Liu Fang's solo recital in the Theatre de la Ville of Paris on May 8, 2006. The whole piece is about 6 minutes. Sanda vs Muay Thai Guangzhou, China 75kgs Unified rules - Punching, kicking, knees, elbows & throws. Elbow pads worn. Clinch time is shorter than standard Muay Thai match. This is Round 1 & 2. This was last match of the first China vs Thailand where elbows were allowed (elbow pads were worn though). Liu Hailong was former Sandawang. The Thai's name was given as Phinit Somphet in the match but on a website his name was given as Lukpoei Grabangkoei. Several people have identified him as Robert Kaenorrasing and I think it is him as well so I've edited the name for this clip.
