Photographers Rights And The Law In The UK - A brief guide for street photographers. Know your rights when you're out with your camera. Despite the law being clear on a citizen's rights to freely take pictures in public places (with a few restrictions) there is growing evidence of the police, police community support officers (PCSOs), security guards and general jobsworths failing to respect the rights of photographers going about their lawful business. Street shots If you're on a public right of way - such as a public pavement, footpath or public highway - you're free to take photographs for personal and commercial use so long as you're not causing an obstruction to other users or falling foul of anti-Terrorism laws or even the Official Secrets Act (frankly, this one is unlikely). Property owners have no right to stop people taking photos of their buildings, so long as the photographer is standing in a public place (e.g. the road outside). However, if you're standing on private property and the landowner/occupier objects, then they have every right to request that you stop immediately and ask you to leave if you refuse. Shopping Centres Most shopping centres and malls stand on private land with many gaining a notorious reputation for speedily dispatching stroppy security guards demanding that you stop taking photos. The irony that they're already busy filming you from every angle via a flotilla of CCTV cameras is generally lost on them. Deleting images Security guards do not have stop and search powers or the right to seize your equipment or delete images or confiscate film under any circumstances. This video- A PRIVATE MEMORIAL SERVICE celebrating the lives of the three slain Hudson family members was held Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Apostolic Church of God on Chicago's South Side. Jennifer Hudson stood a few moments before the caskets of her nephew, Julian King, age 7, her mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, age 57 and brother, Jason Hudson, age 29. Darnell and Jason were killed in their South Side Chicago Englewood home on Friday, October 24, 2008. Julian was missing for three days before he was found in Lawndale on the West Side, apparently murdered, his body in the stolen suburban owned by Jason. Friend singer/actress Fantasia Barrino, who appeared with Jennifer Hudson in American Idol Season 3, delivered a heartfelt song according to funeral attenders. Fellow Idol contestant George Huff also sang. It was reported that Jennifer's friends Queen Latifah, Missy Elliot and Oprah Winfrey were also among the 2500 mourners, as well as record producer Clive Davis and Chicago government officials including Mayor Richard Daley, who also spoke. The Reverend Jesse Jackson delivered a message as well. Crowds of fans lined the streets expressing their love and support for Jennifer and her family. He is being held on unrelated probation violations. Much sympathy, prayers and thoughts go out to the Hudson family at this terrible time. ********* Excerpts from CLTV- Hudson went first to Julian, 7, who was dressed in white to match his casket. She then moved to her mother, the matriarch who encouraged her to try out for "American Idol" and wouldn't leave her Englewood home despite her younger daughter's fame. The actress lingered at her mother's light pink casket and gently touched Donerson before leaning down to kiss her goodbye. Hudson's composure amid the heartbreaking goodbye became the day's defining moment for many mourners. "Jennifer is the pillar," family friend Glover Lewis said as he left the Woodlawn church. 3 year old brother at his preschool gradation. Ok everyone, he is NOT on crack, he does NOT have ADD or Autism, ( as far as we know )he is just a crazy little boy with a lot of energy. Yes, he is my brother but my HALF brother, mind you. So no more rude comments about illnesses and disorders. But I do agree, he's ridiculously funny. I've been meaning to video tape him around the house and catch some more of his madness on camera. He has a younger brother, who is now three and he has become quite the joker. Hopefully i'll have some new videos up soon!
