November 22nd, 2008 at 06:22:17 oh jeez. the old pearl jam vs nirvana debate. nirvana was great and kurt was definately an individual, but honestly although his songs were good the meaning was not so deep. getting his audience was like shooting fish in a barrel you know what i mean. pearl jam music is complex on paper and in meaning. pearl jam all day fools. besides they are still alive. not to mention nirvana never made a fucking song like yellow ledbetter.

Nirvana was already big before Kurt croaked and on an endless rotation on all tv and radio stations and so was Pearl Jam. Personally i love Pearl Jam and Nirvana equally and so much more bands from the nineties. Good times, rock on!

Nirvana had a slightly different following than Pearl Jam, a different style and yaeh when Cobain died they really got popular-that's just the way it goes but to knock "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Nevermind" well sorry but that was huge.

For some reason they are played up WAY more now then when they were out/"popular". It would be like 5 years from now people acting like Blink 182 was the greatest band since the Rolling Stones. So really it's all perception. And for the record Pearl Jam is, was and always will be better than Nirvana. Nirvana wasn't considered 'great' until Kobain died...
